Here's what people don't tell you:
You can have the best of intentions to be mindful, take better care of yourself, and practice self-care, but there are many reasons why you don't stick to it!
💫 If you’re used to spending your life in a high-stress state,
slowing down doesn’t feel good; it’s triggering💫
💫 If your brain and body are already fatigued, exhausted, and frozen,
trying to get enough oomph to get going just isn't possible💫
💫 If no one ever modeled self-care for you, you may not have the brain pathways
to get started on taking better care of yourself💫
💫 If you learned that taking care of others' needs made things easier, you may have subconscious beliefs about not deserving to take care of yourself or meet your own needs💫

What is a glimmer?
A glimmer is a tiny moment we can observe that begin to shift our nervous system, brain, and body toward more resilience and regulation. You can think of glimmers as the opposite of triggers - glimmers are triggers’ happy, sparkly, regulating fraternal twin siblings. Where triggers are cues that something dangerous or stressful is happening, glimmers are cues that the body and brain are having a feeling of pleasantness, safety, and connection.
Why are glimmers important?
More than just the self-care we see on Instagram like bubble baths or watching tv, true resilience means connecting with our brain and our body to tune into what we need and want. Our brains and bodies are meant to work together in harmony but many times, because of exhaustion, busyness, and a fast-paced world, we disconnect from ourselves. By exploring glimmers and resilience skills together, we can connect with a sense of agency over taking care of ourselves in a way that makes sense for us.
What's included in the mini retreat?
We'll spend two 90 minute retreat sessions in the virtual space together, connecting, learning, and practicing! I'll be teaching and sharing some information to allow you to better understand your nervous system and then we'll practice it together and make a plan for how you can integrate it in your daily life in a realistic and easy way. We'll finish our retreat by creating a collage together (no art skills required!) to help you bookmark your glimmers so that you can have a reminder of how to connect into your glimmering, restful place.
You'll have the option to have supplies sent to you for the collage project or to provide your own art supplies (glue or glue stick, thin cardboard - like a cereal box, scissors, old magazines, stickers). You also get access to my glimmer workbook full of tips about nervous system regulation and well-being.
What's the cost of the mini retreat?
For three hours, the retreat cost will be $100 including all supplies you will need to create your own glimmer collage. If you'd rather gather your own supplies (I'll provide you a list - you may have some of the things around your home!), then the price is $75.
I've never been on a mini retreat. How do I know if this retreat is for me?
This mini retreat is open to everyone, whether you've never been to a retreat or are a veteran retreat goer. If you want a moment to rest, relax, connect with other women, and learn how to grow your own resilience in research backed, neurobiological methods, then this is for you! Introverts, extroverts, and ambiverts welcome. No participation is required by you to enjoy the retreat and you are more than welcome to leave your camera off!
Is this a therapy retreat?
No, this is a wellness oriented retreat and is not therapy or a substitute for therapy. All are welcome to attend the retreat and learn about wellness and experiences but there will not be therapists available for sessions and this retreat is not a therapeutic retreat.
Will the retreat be recorded?
Yes, the retreat will be recorded so that you can go back and review the material. If you have to miss one of the sessions, you will still receive the recording. Those who do not wish to be recorded are welcome to leave their cameras off and use the chat box.
What age group is this retreat for?
