Christa Reurink, M.S. Ed., Educator, and Parent Coach
As a seasoned educator and parent with a passion for fostering positive parent-child relationships, Christa brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as a parent coach. With over 10 years in education, she has honed her skills in understanding child development and effective communication strategies. Christa believes that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers.
Christa holds a M.S. Ed. in Childhood Education, which provides her with a solid foundation in educational psychology and family dynamics. She is trained in the Community Resilience Model Family Resilience Program and brings the mind body connection and somatic work into her coaching. She also has degrees in Finance, Accountancy, and International Business. |
Her journey into parent coaching stemmed from a deep-seated belief in the importance of the connection between home and school and strong parent-teacher relationships. She seeks to encourage parents to nurture their children's emotional, social, and academic growth.
In her previous role as a classroom teacher, Christa demonstrated a knack for creating supportive environments where parents feel empowered and equipped to navigate the challenges of parenthood. Her comprehensive approach is rooted in empathy and personalized guidance, ensuring that each family receives tailored support based on their unique needs and circumstances. Through the lens of the whole child, Christa sees each child as a capable individual worthy of respect and dignity, and she strives to help each child reach their full potential by educating and empowering parents.
Christa believes that the power to learn is emotionally based. Social and emotional learning is the process through which individuals develop the skills, attitudes, and values necessary to understand and manage life tasks such as cognitive learning, forming relationships, and adapting to the demands of growing up in today’s complex society. She is a proponent of the habits of mind, a framework of life related skills that explain how individuals develop over time and operate in society, which enable them to approach problems, tasks, and challenges effectively. These habits encompass a set of attitudes and behaviors that help people navigate the complexities of life and learning.
Outside of her coaching practice, Christa remains actively involved in the education community, teaching math and reading to students, participating in conferences focused on child development and keeping abreast of the latest in education and parenting. She has a young son and enjoys seeing the world through his eyes, traveling with her family, reading, and solving puzzles of all kinds.
As a parent coach, Christa is committed to helping families build strong foundations for their children's future success, one supportive conversation at a time, recognizing that no one approach fits all, and just like every child is unique, so is every family and situation. Her mission is to empower parents with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the complexities of parenting and raise confident, resilient, and joyful children.
